NEWS BRIEFS: Turner Programming Part of ICO Test
ICO Global Communications said it reached agreements with Turner to provide content from Cartoon Network and Adult Swim for use in alpha trials of its mobile interactive media service, known as ICO mim. The mobile video, navigation and emergency assistance service is powered by the ICO G1 satellite, which launched in April. The trials will take place in Raleigh-Durham and Las Vegas starting in late summer.
Wireless Maritime Services, a joint venture of AT&T Mobility and SeaMobile Enterprises, said it will acquire certain maritime wireless assets of SeaMobile Wireless, a division of SeaMobile Enterprises. The WMS joint venture has the potential of providing service to more than 115 cruise ships and long-haul ferries throughout the world, the companies said.
